BRM's thoughts on the 7/26 episode of ROH on HDnet
I have switched to a new match rating system , which is out of 10, rather than out of 5. I felt that 5 was too limiting because there are those match that are between two ratings (Not good enough to be ***3/4, but definitely better than just ***1/2). I had actually been thinking about doing this for a while but held off because I didn’t want to sell better matches short (at first glance 4 out of 5 seems like a better rating than 8 out of 10). To derive normal star ratings from my new ratings, just divide the rating by 2.
1 or below- Utter crap.
1.25-3.75- Bad
4 or above- Okay
5 or above- Solid (usually these match would have been a lot better but needed more time- can also be flawless execution of the moves themselves in a not very interesting match)
6 or above- Good
7 or above - Very Good (IMO, all main events should be at least this high)
8 or above- (****- definitely worth going out of your way to see)
8.5 or above Awesome (****1/4)
9 or above- Outstanding (****1/2
9.5 or above- Amazing (****3/4)
10 PERFECT (*****)
1. The show opens with a recap of some of KoW’s promos on the Briscoes.
2. Hagadorn says that he has 3 of the best teams in the world here tonight, and that KoW will beat them all. Predictably, they are jobbers.
3. I was very disappointed to see the CZW and Evolve wrestler Adam Cole was one of the jobbers. This kid has a ton of potential, and shouldn’t be used like this.
4. The third team is the Ninjas, prompting Prazak to ask “are the from Canada (It’s a SHIMMER joke).
5. Of course, the Ninjas were the Briscoes wearing masks. They get the best of KoW, jumping them, then pin Claudio after a Doomsday Device. An okay segment.
6. Great promo by Daniels hyping up tonight’s main event: Daniels vs. Roderick Strong.
7. I HATE the Embassy! They just ruined what was on its way to being an awesome match between the American Wolves and Dark City Fight Club. Then again, it’s just another reason for me to buy “Pick Your Poison” (the ROH show in Dayton where these two teams had a match, plus some other awesome stuff on that card). DCFC win by DQ 7/10
8. SkullKrusher comes out as well and we have a big brawl. People from the lockerroom come out to break it up, but they get clobbered. To me, the highlight of this brawl was John Davis (of the Dark City Fight Club) doing a dropkick. For those who haven’t seen him, Davis is about 6’3, and weighs over 250 pounds.
9. Daniels vs. Strong 7.75/10.
A great show!
